Privacy Policy and Advertising
Last updated: 21 October 2026
Rogue Encampment (roguecamp.top, "the site" below) is a personal creative site about Diablo II cut-content research, mod development records, a concept-art gallery and the game soundtrack. It is maintained by its author and does not build commercial profiles from visitor data or resell it. This page explains what information the site comes into contact with, how it is used, and how advertising on the site works.
1. Information collected directly by the site
- Registration and login: an email address is required, used for verification codes, password recovery and site notifications. Passwords are stored as hashes; the site cannot see them in plain text. Nicknames and avatars are set by you, and default nicknames are generated by the system.
- Comments, replies and private messages: text and images you submit are shown publicly (private messages are visible only to you and the author). To prevent spam and abuse, the server records the IP address and browser identifier (User-Agent) at submission time.
- Visit statistics: the site records page views, online status, the type of traffic source (direct, search engine, social platform and so on) and search keywords. This data is shown only in the admin area, in aggregate, to understand which content people read.
- Interaction records: likes, reading state and play records, used to show in-site indicators such as "N people reading / listening".
2. Browser local storage
The site uses a small number of cookies and browser local storage to keep basic features working:
- Session cookie: your login state and the token needed to prevent cross-site request forgery. Without it, logging in and commenting cannot work.
- Local storage: remembers whether the domain-change notice has been read, player volume and similar preferences. It is not uploaded to the server.
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings, but features that need an identity, such as logging in and commenting, will stop working.
3. Third-party advertising
The site uses Google AdSense to help cover server and bandwidth costs. Details:
- Google and its partners, as third-party vendors, use cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other sites.
- Ads are served and measured directly by Google. The site cannot read or control the contents of those cookies, and does not give your account information to advertisers.
- You can turn off personalised advertising in Google Ad Settings, or manage third-party advertising cookies in one place at aboutads.info.
- In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland the site uses Google-certified consent management (CMP) and asks for consent first, per local rules; personalised ads are not served before consent is given.
- Ad slots never appear on login, registration, profile, admin or notification pages, and are never mixed into user-submitted content such as comments or private messages.
4. Other third-party services
- Email delivery: verification and notification emails are sent through a third-party SMTP service and include your email address.
- IP geolocation: to spot unusual access, the admin area sends visitor IPs to a public geolocation service (such as ip-api.com). The result appears only in the admin interface; no location information is shown on public pages.
- Server and logs: the site runs on a cloud server, and the web server keeps short-term access logs for diagnosing faults and abuse.
5. Retention and deletion
Account information is kept while the account exists; comments, gallery items and articles are no longer shown publicly once deleted. If you want your account, comments or private messages removed, contact the author by private message on the site, stating what should be handled, and it will be dealt with after your identity is verified.
6. Minors
The site is aimed at visitors interested in Diablo II and its design material. It is not designed for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information. If such a case is found, contact the site through its own channels and it will be removed.
7. Changes to this policy
When site features or third-party services change, this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it. Continuing to use the site means you are aware of how information is handled as described above.
8. Contact
For questions about privacy, content licensing or advertising, use the guestbook or send a private message to the author.
